Looking Ahead: 2017
Last month we took a look back at what we’ve accomplished in 2016, but now it’s time to look ahead to the exciting things we have lined up for 2017.
New Projects
We’ve been working on two investment properties in 2016 that will hit the market in 2017, and they couldn’t be more different. One is our more typical historic Fan row-house renovation, while the other is a 1950’s ranch in the West End - we will keep you posted on when those properties go up for sale.
This year we will also wrap up a major remodel on one of our most energy efficient homes to date. We’re excited to share the final energy results as pre-drywall blower door tests looked great.
Additions are also on the list for 2017 including one for a house built in 1850 - one of the oldest houses we’ve worked on. Another exciting project involves a house that sits above the James River that we can’t wait to tell you more about.
Finally, we broke ground in 2016 on two projects that are a bit different for us: the new High Point Barbershop in Scott’s Addition and an addition in the West End that was designed by Johannas Design Group.
All in all, we’re looking at several infill and historic renovation projects that are our usual forte while also expanding our services to commercial and large addition and design projects. We’re excited to continue with our vision of restoring historic homes to last for another hundred years, while also expanding our horizons!
New People
Everyone has goals or resolutions for the new year, and we’re no exception. Our goal this year is to continue to grow and expand our team. We’re hiring! We have a great core group and we are continuing to build our staff to support our lead guys -John, Seth and Steve. We’ve had growth in revenue, staff and number of projects every year since we opened in 2008, and we expect 2017 to continue in this trend. If you’re skilled in
New Products and Partnerships
We are always looking for products that improve our systems or final product. On our jobsites we’ve started using a dust collection system called Build Clean. This system keeps houses cleaner during the construction process, our workers safer and of course - clients happier (win, win win)!
We are also using a new thermal imaging tool called FLIR One. This is a tool you can attach right to a smartphone to quickly and easily determine where homes are energy inefficient. This tool means we can quickly diagnose potential problems with a home and also allows us to confirm that our work is done correctly.
Finally an exciting partnership for 2017 is the one we now have with Atlas Realty. They are working with us on the investment properties that are coming onto the market early this year, and they are pushing us to try new things and expand our services.
