Partners Matter: Creative Conservation

The old saying goes that you’re only as good as the company you keep.

That’s why we care deeply about the companies we partner with for specialty work on our projects. We’ve written before about how subcontractor isn’t a dirty word. We like letting the people who are experts in their specific field do the best work possible for our clients.

One of the areas that matters a lot to us is energy efficiency and comfort. Historic and older homes like the ones we generally work on can be drafty and expensive to heat and cool. That’s why for the past two years now at the beginning of the design phase of every project, we consult with Creative Conservation to determine the best insulation decisions for that particular home. We rely on their expertise to choose the best type of insulation for each home based on cost, performance and physical space. We never leave insulation as an afterthought to toss in once the framing is done - it’s an integral part of our first design phase.

Creative Conservation is the number one provider of foam insulation, sprayed systems and waterproofing in the state of Virginia. They offer a variety of insulation products that are efficient and environmentally-friendly. They are also a member of the Virginia chapter of the ICAA (Insulation Contractors Associations of America), an organization that focuses on the improvement and technological advances in the insulation industry, so they are always in the know about new products and best practices.

There is not one type of insulation that is right for every home, which is why they offer spray foam, fiberglass and cellulose as well as waterproofing and Rhino linings. We have used nearly all of their services and products, including in RIC Owner, Matt Warner’s, family home where they installed insulation in the attic and crawl space. Afterwards he saw a  big difference in utility bills and overall comfort of the house. We have been partnering with Creative Conservation ever since.

Creative Conservation has been family owned and operated since 1981 and we are proud to work with a company who shares our values about the environment, customer service and an excellent end product.
